The 3rd Transnational Meeting of the DIGITRONICS project was held in Rome, in the Confindustria offices where the Partners discussed their approach to generate two very important outputs: the Guidelines and the Learning Modules for Mechatronics Trainers.

DIGITRONICS aims to further professionalize mechatronics training courses and help trainers identify where they can further develop their competencies in mechatronics and professional training of learners. Within a context of bridging gaps between training and the needs of industries and sectors using mechatronics tools, DIGITRONICS strives to improve the professionalization of mechatronics training courses and give trainers the opportunity to address future needs and explore competences that will be increasingly necessary.

What we analyzed and laid down in this latest meeting is perfectly in line with what was declared on the same day by the Italian Minister of Education in an interview with the Italian leading financial newspaper IlSole24ore:

“Obviously we need to invest in infrastructure endowments, and that is why one of my first acts concerned the decree with the allocation criteria for the 500 million € on the ITS (Italian technical professional institutes) laboratories, resolving an immobility that had lasted for months. Only by investing in infrastructure do we give the quantum leap that technical and vocational education needs. And then there is another central issue. The future will be increasingly digital, and professions will be increasingly managed with the artificial intelligence revolution.

And so, it is clear that the ability to educate and professionalize in digital is strategic. Teaching how to govern these new tools and ways of working is critical.

And how do you do it?

You do it by starting with the technical-professional institutes that must respond with new qualifications and new pathways, must adapt to the needs of the area, modernizing laboratories and teaching.

Some realities of excellence are already there. We must help the system to generalize them. Investing in technical and vocational education is a great investment for our young people and our productive system.”

The growing importance and stronger insertion of Italian ITS’ into the Italian and European productive tissue was also substantiated by the testimonials of ITS Meccatronico del Lazio who actively participated in the DIGITRONICS meeting representing a clear example of the ITS’ capabilities and willingness to innovate: key factors which will be supported by the outcome of the DIGITRONICS project.
